Meet Billy Ray.
Last week was a bad week for my car. It was in the mechanic shop three times for issues. Tuesday of last week I was in the Columbia, SC area taking care of business and the alternator of my car died. There I was stranded. No power in my car. I called AAA and they arranged for my car to be towed to Charlotte to my mechanic.
The feature gentleman in the photo, Billy Ray, is the tow truck driver who picked up me and my car and drove us to Charlotte. The drive was longer than what I'm used in regards to driving to and from Columbia, so there was time for conversation with Billy Ray.
I'm writing about this guy because he shared with me about his battle with alcoholism. He started drinking in his teenage years and carried on until ten years ago. His drinking, according to him, got to the point where he was drinking two cases of beer and a fifth of Jack Daniels each night. Billy Ray finally tackled the alcoholism himself. He overcame this on his own. Impressive. He's been dry for ten years. Stories like this can be inspiring.
